Bardenas Reales

Day 6: Bardenas Reales. After a good sleep full of dreams caused by Zovallo and Lavagna (I still have to understand if these were bad or nice dreams), I was feeling ready to dominate the desert. The good, the bad and the ugly, all three characters were inside me this morning. I left Sadaba after a spanish time breakfast (so around 9.30), after 200 meters I was already on gravel roads. I've never seen so straight and flat gravel roads. Even though the beast was not in its completely free environment, it was in its perfect habitat. I had no idea that it was able to push the giant rider up to 160 km/h. It was like flying on a sea of dust, everything turned into dust here. Then I left the main road, I've hit a memorial for the farmers of this region, then I took a smaller road and we had to fight into first gear passages, even some mud was finding refuge in this desert...there was a 'Tormenta' 2 days ago, that might be the reason of this mud. When we were close to the main road there was the last test, passing through a river that was turned into quicksands. Nothing was going to stop the good, nor the bad nor the ugly. We spent 20 minutes for crossing 150 meters of pure mud. Out of this we were both completely dead, the air temperature of 37° c was not helping us. Back on the fast roads we reached the most famous natural peak of the Bardenas Reales. Then some more speedy sections till a double track end way, were we were back on the tarmac after more than 100 km of dust, speed and mud. That was a sick day, I had a Spanish lunch from 2 till 5 with some good recovery beverages. Tomorrow I will visit Sadaba and hit the Bardenas again in the early morning...speed is something the gods give to strong men and beasts and me and my beast, we are the strongest (almost invincible!)!
