Starting and ending at Two Wheels of Suches Motorcycle campground in North Georgia, this is an easy going gravel dual sport route that will make a good morning or afternoon ride. If you leave between 8 and 9am you should be back to the campground in time for lunch and if you leave right after lunch should be back in time for dinner.
This route gets a little asphalt in, but it's 180 (Our version of The Dragon's Tail) so how can you go wrong? The short dirt road (Helton Creek Rd) between hwy129 and Richard B Russell hwy has a great waterfall right off the road on the right and a decent little creek crossing after the waterfall. The waterfall, I think it's called Helton Creek Falls, is off the right side of the road (you have to look for it). There will be a little parking area and a short walking trail to it. It's pretty cool and worth the short walk. After Helton Creek it circles back to 180 but takes a dirt "shortcut" back to the asphalt. Then takes you over Duncan Ridge, which has some pretty fun whoops. All of the off-road on this route is pretty easy and big bike friendly and the asphalt is all nice and curvy.
