Medium / Hard Forks Off Road Trail loop

Secret Locals Trail? well, kinda. This is a loop starting and ending at Two Wheels OF Suches Motorcycle Campground, but unlike most others heads a bit more south to go play on the Forks Off Road Trail, where the local jeeps and 4x4's go to play. It's Only 60 Miles but you will want to spend some extra time playing on the trail once you get there.
The route takes you north on 60 before headed south on gravel through the Chattahoochee National Forest to get to the off road playground. The Forks Off road trail is a power line trail playground that is pretty difficult in spots on a big bike, especially after rain. Its completely legal and used by locals for a 4x4 playground. The cool thing about this area is that there is usually three different lines to take and some optional drop-offs and hill climbs that can be pretty challenging. There is also a pretty good water crossing to play in (the rocks can be slick, scout your line through the creek first).
You will go down the power lines and loop around to come right back up for some more fun. If you make it through successfully you will get lead into Dahlonega where you can stop for gas and food. After Dahlonega the route will take you up grassy gap for the "dirt short cut" back to Two Wheels of Suches.
Most of this ride is easy gravel... but if you aren't comfortable on a big bike, or have road tires its a good idea to stay away from the Forks Off Road Powerline Trail. It is an option to follow the whole route and skip the smaller loop on the south-west end of the route. When you come out of the woods and onto the power line trail you can just go straight instead of turning right onto the trail and make it an easier ride.
Enjoy this local favorite, and beware of the mud on Forks trail after heavy rain!
