Cuzco - Nazca, Peru

[flag:en]

The road from Cuzco to Nazca is paved, but the stunning views of the Andes are absolutely worth it. Winding up and down the mountains, this road takes you to crazy altitudes of over 4 kilometers. I'd recommend doing it in 2 or 3 days just so you could take the incredible landscapes in; if you're doing it the other way round, it's better to go slower as you'll need to acclimatize to the altitude.

The hostels are very basic but very cheap (a private room is around 6-7 euros per night), and fuel is available in most towns and villages. The fuel quality is often questionable, but it's usually not less than 90 octane. Wild camping is allowed anywhere. In higher altitudes, it gets chilly at night (around 8 C) so make sure your sleeping bag is up for it!
