Local Dirt Road / light Dual Sport Exploring

This is a nice, easy going local dual sport ride for those times you just don't want to go all the way to the mountains, or maybe you just want to change it up a little and see some of the local dirt roads before they get paved over! It begins at the QT just down the road from our dealership in Buford, a good meet up spot if were closed. (If were open you'll get free strong coffee and free conversation while you wait on your one buddy that's always late) These are local dirt roads and consist of a route that chains them all together into one ride. All 2wd car compatible (easy riding) and some good country and woods scenery but more turns and changes than the long gravel roads up in the mountains. This is better for a nice low-key ride, be careful if you like to hold some speed and have fun, these are more travelled than north of us. Lunch stop is at Bells Drive-In in Toccoa, total miles under 200 round trip. The trip back is mainly highway as this ride is designed as if you are leaving the start point at 9am and returning around 4:30 - 5:30 depending on speed and lunch break.
There is an Off Road (OHV) area that is of higher difficulty in the Forest just south west of Toccoa. You will pass 10 min away from it. It can be a challenge on a big bike, especially if wet. You can add this if you want to extend the day... When you cross 123 just west of Toccoa look on your GPS for "Locust Stake Rd" You will turn left on 123/17 instead of crossing it and turn right on Rock Rd, then right on Locust Stake Rd... the OHV parking area will be on you right.
The end of the dirt section goes up the west bank of Lake Rabun on an easy but really pretty gravel road. If you look carefully on this road you will see a little parking area on your right and a sign for Minnehaha Falls. It is about a 1/4 mile walk up the trail to a beautiful waterfall if you want to stop here and take a look.
Enjoy!
